The Bella Luce Hotel has undergone an extraordinary make-over recently - taking it from being an extremely pleasant hotel in a great location to being an exceptional design-led boutique, luxury hotel which makes the most of its stunning rural location and is unlike any other hotel or restaurant in Guernsey. It now has stunning new Spa facilities.
The building is one of the oldest Norman manor houses on the island with parts dating back to the 12th century. The first known owner was a wealthy family named Torode who lived there in the 1830's and housed both family members and servants. The building only became a hotel in 1933 when Mrs Kings-Weyson took it on and wished to turn it into an exclusive venue to which the financially fortunate could come to stay and experience the wonders of the island. And that is how it has remained ever since.
The structure of this very old building has been carefully restored and revived, keeping the traditional features and quirky pieces of history, while modernising and making it fabulous. At every turn there is evidence of the attention given to detail and design, all without compromising the original beauty of this 17th century, rather splendid, home.
In the course of the latest refurbishments, a great Spa has been added to the Bella Luce Hotel, which invites you to unwind and invigorate your body and soul with luxury treatments.
Rooms
You are spoiled for choice at Bella Luce with four different types of rooms to suit taste and budget. The guestrooms and suites offer understated luxury and classic elegance. The recently upgraded standard rooms are simple yet comfortable, and include an en-suite bathroom, LCD television and coffee and tea-making facilities. Most rooms also have views overlooking the beautiful Bella Luce garden.
The contemporary premier rooms contain stylish furniture and usually have a four-poster bed dressed in fluffy white duvets and pillows. As well as the facilities that the standard rooms offer, a mini fridge and wet room or shower, rather than a bath in the en suite, are included.
Slightly larger than the premier, the luxury rooms all offer a individual experience based around the 'traveller' theme, each taking you to a different part of the world.
Finally, the two spacious Loft Suites offer luxurious accommodation in the attic space of the Bella Luce.
One of the suites has an extra double bedroom with en suite joining on to the main room, which enables the suite to be converted into a 'family loft suite'.
All accommodation has access to 24-hour room service, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi internet and an off room living area.
