Herm Island
Herm Island is 3 miles from the coast of Guernsey and measures just a mile and a
half long and half a mile wide. Herm is the perfect place to stay for a truly relaxing
island holiday and is ideal for families and anyone wanting to "get away from it
all". Once on our paradise island enjoy our beautiful unspoilt beaches and safe,
clean pollution-free environment. There are no cars, no crowds and definitely no
stress.

The White House Hotel is special. After all, how many hotels can boast a Britian
in Bloom Gold Award-winning island as their garden, a harbour-side setting and such
spectacular sea views? Where else could you enjoy first-class dining with wines
from our extensive, carefully selected list and be just a stones's throw from the
sea as you watch the sunset across the gardens?
White House Hotel
Tradition is cherished at the family-owned, country house-style hotel to which many
families have been coming for three generations. You'll find a variety of delightful
bedrooms, including the luxurious Crow's Nest Suite, Harbour Cottage with its own
garden and family accommodation with separate bedrooms for the children. You won't
find televisions, clocks or telephones, as somehow they don't seem appropriate on
Herm (for this reason alone we miss out on additional grading stars). Children have
always been welcome, with a popular high tea for junior diners and a baby-listening
service.
The hotel encourages you to unwind. You could have tea served by the pool in the
garden, play a game of croquet or tennis, enjoy an aperitif in the Monk's Bar or
choose one of the many sofas in a cosy lounge and curl up in front of the fire with
a coffee and a good book.
Rooms at the White House Hotel
The White House is a 40 bedroom hotel, with a mixture of double, twin, single and
family rooms. The bedrooms are all situated on the ground and first floors with
the exception of our 'Crows Nest' suite which is the only room on a second floor
level. There are no lifts in the hotel, all rooms except for the ground floor being
reached by stairs.
The Hotel bedrooms are split into four main areas:
- The 'Main' Hotel
- Laranda Cottage
- Mermaid Cottage
- Foxglove Cottage
In addition to these we have the 'Crows Nest' which is a family suite situated on
the second floor and the 'Harbour Cottage' which is situated just to the north of
the main hotel in the harbour village area.
Thirty one of our rooms have 'Sea-views' while the remaining nine have garden views.
Residents in the Hotel have full use of all the hotel's facilities. Our residents
lounges have extensive sea views and comfortable seating. Curl up and enjoy a good
book or have that pre-dinner drink while admiring the sunset.
Guests also have full use of our hotel gardens. Unwind in the sunshine while enjoying
lunch or drinks served by the pool or on the hotel lawn, overlooking the sea. Find
a quiet corner of the gardens and relax on a lounger to read the paper or just get
away from it all.
The more active of our guests may make use of the small outdoor swimming pool or
have a game of croquet on the lawn. Spend some time on the hotel tennis court, rackets
and balls being being provided at the hotel reception.
For both adults and children we have an extensive games cupboard stocked with various
games and jigsaws for when the weather is not quite so good. There are no televisions
in our hotel lounges to spoil the peace and tranquility for our guests.
