Guernsey Events in January 2010

  • Friday 22nd January 2010: January Winter Jazz - Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts, St Peter Port
    Another splendid informal evening of Jazz featuring the Youth Jazz and Training Jazz Orchestras of the Schools Music Service. Doors and bar open from 7.15pm.

  • Saturday 23rd January 2010 - Sunday 28th February 2008: The Nature of Things - Guernsey Museum
    This exhibition held at the Guernsey Museum features the Natural History Illustrations of F.C. Lukis and a foyer display of 'Life and Death at La Varde', showing the results of recent scientific examination of bones which sheds new light on the lives and deaths of those buried at this spectacular Neolithic monument.

  • Sunday 31st January 2010: Lihou Winter Arts Festival - Lihou Island
    The Lihou Winter Arts Festival will give all ages alike the chance to join in with storytelling, drama, dance, kite making, art and craft activities before making the return journey together across the Causeway to Guernsey as part of a lantern-lit parade. Events run from 12.00 noon – 15.00pm and admission is free.

  • Friday 26th February 2010 - Saturday 27th March 2010: Guernsey Eisteddford Society 80th Annual Festival - various venues throughout Guernsey
    A chance for locals to show off their talents with a series of arts and academic events culminating in an exhibition at the end of March. Subjects include French, Guernsey French, music, speech & drama as well as an exhibition showing photography, cookery, homemade wine etc. Activities will take place at various venues including Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, St James Concert Hall and the Grammar School Lecture Theatre.

  • Saturday 13th March 2010 - Sunday 12th September 2010: Occupation: Behind Barbed Wire Exhibition - Guernsey Museum.
    During the second world war, some 2,000 Channel Islanders were deported to prison camps in Germany. Whole families were held behind barbed wire. To occupy their time and to produce the comforts and necessities of life, the deportees applied themselves to arts and crafts. A range of objects and artworks will be on show, telling the story of enterprise during those dark years. This exhibition in Guernsey Museum will be accompanied by educational and family activities.

  • Friday 2nd April 2010 - Monday 5th April 2010: KPMG 29th Guernsey Easter Running Festival
    4 races to choose from: 10km Road Race, 4.75mile Cross Country, Team Relay (4 x 2 miles XC) and a Half Marathon 13.1 miles.

  • 2nd April 2010 - 5th April 2010: Easter Festival of Living History - Castle Cornet
    Castle Cornet comes to life with the aid of the Guernsey History in Action Company. Costumed performers retell the stories from Guernsey’s turbulent history. Visitors can return each day during the weekend.

  • Thursday 15th April 2010: CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA AND PAGLIACCI – A DIGITAL SCREENING FROM THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE - Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts, 7.30pm
    Two operas for the price of one! Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni set in a Sicilian village on Easter Sunday. Followed by Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo following the lives of Tonio, Beppe, Canio and his wife Nedda who form a company of itinerant performers. Tickets £10 and £8 concs.

  • Saturday 17th April 2010 - Sunday 25th April 2010: Spring Floral Festival Week
    Discover Guernsey's floral wealth in the first of three Floral Festival Weeks. Walks, talks and lectures are all available in this Spring Week when our wildflowers are at their best and filling the hedges and fields.

  • Thursday 22nd April 2010: RHS Event – NT Live-The Habit of Art - At The Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts, 7pm (with live streaming from 6.45pm)
    The Guernsey College is proud to present the fourth in the series of Live Broadcasts from the National Theatre in HD on big screen. Visit ntlive.com for further details. Tickets £10 and £8 concs.

  • Saturday 24th April 2010: RHS Event – Guernsey Clematis Open Day
    Join award-winning nurseryman Raymond Evison for a tour of the nursery and a workshop covering breeding and development, demonstration of how to plant a container, combining clematis with other plants, pruning, feeding and cultural advice, propagation and a chance to see the latest cultivars before they come on the market.

  • Saturday 24th April 2010 & Sunday 25th April: RHS Event – Siam Cup Rugby - Footes Lane
    The annual weekend of rugby matches between Guernsey and Jersey with matches across all ages, from under 7s to veterans, with the first team match at 3pm. Stand tickets available and corporate hospitality packages.

  • Monday 26th April 2010: "Cracking Codes: Did Botticelli work for Bletchley Park?" - Les Cotils Christian Centre
    Old Master paintings are rich in coded and symbolic messages and they need to be decoded just as the code breakers at Bletchley Park had to break the Enigma code in World War II. This fascinating illustrated talk takes a close look at one of the most famous paintings of the Renaissance, Botticelli's "Primavera", and explains why and how it, and many other Renaissance masterpieces, brilliantly exploited and developed this rich language, and how it still says a lot to us today.

  • Guernsey Photography Festival, Guernsey 2010
    Saturday 1st May 2010 - Saturday 29th May 2010: Guernsey Photography Festival - venues across St Peter Port.
    A major new cultural festival for 2010, the first Guernsey Photography Festival will be held in St Peter Port featuring exhibitions by renowned international photographers Simon Norfolk, Josef Koudelka and Judah Passow. The festival will also feature community activities, with competitions and exhibitions featuring work by local photographers, both amateur and professional, throughout the month of May.

  • Sunday 2nd May 2010 - Monday 3rd May 2010 (Bank Holiday): Lower Pollet Food Festival A chance to enjoy al fresco dining at restaurants around Le Pollet. Run by Good Food Guernsey.
  • Monday 3rd May 2010 (Bank Holiday): Guernsey Race Club Horse Race Meeting
    Guernsey's annual day out at the races. Why not come along and have a flutter on your favourite horse and enjoy the atmosphere at the L'Ancresse racecourse on this Bank Holiday Monday. Refreshments available. Gates open at 11.30am, First Race starts at 2.30pm.

  • Monday 3rd May 2010 (Bank Holiday): 40th World Aid Walk - Start and Finish – Market Square, St Peter Port
    2010 marks the 40th year for this popular community event, sponsored by Ipes. Starting at 9am and finishing in Market Square the 20km walk takes you around the island stopping at various check points for refreshments. Christian Aid, Oxfam, ActionAid, Save the Children and The Tumaini Fund are all beneficiaries of the funds raised.

  • Tuesday 4th May 2010 - Sunday 9th May 2010: Memory Project - Throughout St Peter Port
    Rediscover the 1940s and the 1950s as you wander through the streets of St Peter Port - a visual feast of short films with a strong local identity. To be shown from 7.30 onwards.

    Liberation Festival of Transport Show, Guernsey 2010
  • Saturday 8th May 2010: Liberation Festival of Transport Show - Saumarez Park
    Guernsey Military Vehicle Group are hosting a Liberation Festival of Transport show on 8th May 2010 at Saumarez Park. Over 100 WW2 Military vehicles will be on show in the park, along with various local car clubs who will also be proudly displaying their collections. Admission is free. www.gmvg.co.uk


  • Saturday 8th May 2010 - Sunday 9th May 2010: CINEGUERNSEY - Guernsey at War - Guernsey Museum Cinema, Candie Gardens.
    CineGuernsey will be screening 3 highly acclaimed, locally made films about the Occupation Of The Channel Islands, the work of Martin Morgan and Chris Denton, which have been shown on the History Channel in addition to a selection of short films from the BFI which provide a fascinating and poignant insight into Britain on the cusp of war and its transition to the brutal realities of life at war.

  • Liberation Day, Guernsey 2010
    Sunday 9th May 2010: Liberation Day Liberation Day Commemorates the day Guernsey was liberated from German Occupation during the Second World War. Guernsey celebrates with a Bank Holiday that is packed with fun events for all the family.
    The hub of the activities is at the piers of St Peter Port and there are plenty of attractions for young and old alike including historical exhibitions, open-air concerts, street entertainers, buskers and live theatre.

  • Wednesday 5th May 2010 - Sunday 16th May 2010: Spring Walking Week
    The first walking week of the year, discover the beautiful island with a series of popular walks around Guernsey. Walks for all interests and abilities will be on offer covering history, wildlife, heroes and folklore will all be covered. And there is a rebate scheme so you can enjoy free walks too!   • Friday 7th May 2010 - Sunday 9th May 2010: Carnival Liberation Salsa Weekend - St Peter Port Marina
    3 nights and 2 days of Salsa Workshops, Parties and Salsa Ball.

  • Guernsey Summer Jazz - May to September: Various jazz musicians and groups perform free concerts at Cobo Bay Hotel and Les Rocquettes Hotel.
  • Thursday 13th May 2010: Morlaix Yacht Race
    Around 130 yachts and 650 yachtsmen set off from this enchanting north Brittany port on the annual Morlaix Yacht Club Telegramme Tresco Trophy. The boats hail from French ports such as Dieppe and La Rochelle and range from seven to 15 metres. The fleet races to St Peter Port – where it stops to relax and enjoy the town, creating a wonderful sight in the marina, before setting sail for Perros Guirec.

  • Friday 14 May 2010: Museums at Night - Castle Cornet
    Castle Cornet will be open for a free evening of talks, tours and a chance to meet the curators and handle historic objects.

  • Tuesday 18th May 2010: As You Like It - Digital Screening from the Globe - Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts, 7.30pm.
    The 2nd in our series of digital screenings from Shakespeare's Globe. A firm favourite among Shakespeare's comedies and including some of his best-loved characters, As You Like It runs the glorious gamut of pastoral romance, cross-dressing, love-notes, poetry, brilliant conversation; slapstick and passion. Tickets £10 and £8 concs.

  • Saturday 22nd May 2010: The Photographers' Fair in the Old Quarter - Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts, 7.30pm.
    Part of The Guernsey Photography Festival 2010, the Photographers' Fair in the Old Quarter is a huge celebration where all photographers are encouraged to set up a stall, show and sell their work to the public. There will also be an 'Ask an Expert' area where people can take their work to Jean-Christophe Godet, Karl Taylor and Nick Despres to get an honest opinion on how they should best progress. Inside The Gallery there will be the usual street party drop-in workshop for children who want to sit down and create some artistic masterpieces. Live music from the awesome John Wesley Stones. Stalls cost £10 which all goes into a Creative Quarter Regeneration Fund.

  • Sunday 23rd May 2010: RG FALLA QUARTER MARATHON
    An annual charity event for Save the Children, it will start at 10.30am from Crabby Jacks, Vazon. The run is to L'eree Bay and back. It is both an individual and team event with prizes awarded in both categories. Registration forms are available to download at www.rgfalla.gg

  • Sunday 30th May 2010: Taste of Guernsey Sunday Seafront Closure
    11am – 6pm No admission charges enquiries@visitguernsey.com The first in a series of Sunday seafront closures over the summer months, featuring cooking demonstrations, displays and food tastings. There will also be opportunity to participate in workshops, purchase local produce or to just simply enjoy the musical entertainment on offer.

  • Friday 4th June 2010 - Saturday 12th June 2010: Guernsey Festival of Comedy
    Various local and international stand-up comedians perform at venues in St. Peter Port and around the island for nine days of laughter on Guernsey. Visiting international comedians, comedy club nights, classic film comedy and shows from the Edinburgh Festival. Tickets will be available exclusively online.

  • Saturday 5th June 2010: Itex Rotary Walk 2010
    Join this beautiful yet challenging around Guernsey charity walk of 40 miles. Individuals, relay teams and section only walkers welcome. The parish represents the Bailiwick of Guernsey in this year's RHS Britain in Bloom competition.   • Sunday 6th June 2010: Art on the Beach - Vazon Bay
    Dig out your bucket and space to create your own works of art on Vazon Bay in teams of up to 10 people during this FREE event. Family and business categories with local artists on hand to offer advice and judge.

  • Thursday 10th June 2010: CINEGuernsey - Looking for Eric - Guernsey Museum Cinema, Candie Gardens, Doors 6.45pm – Film 7.30pm
    Eric the Postman is watching life slip through his own fingers.....his wife has gone, his stepsons are out of control and his life is chaotic. Even before the appearance of a cement mixer in the front garden. Sometimes it takes a special friend to lift you out of a rut and as Eric discovers, in the company of his mercurial namesake (and a rather good footballer) “He who is afraid to throw the dice will never throw a six”. A wonderful feel good movie from Ken Loach.

    To celebrate the Queens Official Birthday there is free entry to Castle Cornet, Guernsey Museum, Fort Grey and the Telephone Museum.

  • Thursday 17th June 2010 - Sunday 20th June 2010: St Saviour's Parish Church Flower Festival - "Celebrations"
    There will be approximately 40 arrangements illustrating this year's theme - 'Celebrations'. The Church will be filled with a wonderful diverse range of arrangements - each themed around a different celebration. There is no entry charge although donations are welcome. There is ample free parking. Refreshments will be available each day and there will be live music in the Church on Saturday. On Sunday at 9.30am, there will be a Floral Family Communion Service. A warm welcome awaits all visitors to St. Saviour's. Opening hours: Thurs - Sat 10.00am to 5.00pm, Sunday 11.00am to 5.00pm
  • Sunday 20th June 2010: Pants in the Park - Saumarez Park, runs start at 14.30 and 15.30
    Event includes 1km runs, raffle, games and entertainment for all the family. Why not join and wear your decorated pants “superman style” over your trousers. All proceeds go to Prostate UK and the aim is raise awareness about Prostate Cancer. For registration and more information go to www.pantsinthepark.org

  • Friday 25th June 2010: Pembroke Bay: Andy Goldsworthy - Pembroke Bay
    Internationally renowned artist Andy Goldsworthy creates a temporary piece on Pembroke Bay. Working throughout the day, Goldsworthy will use sand to realise his only UK based work this year, which will ultimately be destroyed by the evening’s high tide.
  • Friday 25th June 2010 - Saturday 26th June 2006: The Island Flower Show - St Martin's Parish Hall
    To be held at St Martin's Parish Hall. Entries will be from all over the Island, and there are adult & children's classes.
  • La Fete de la Mair - late June to early July: Annual seafood event in St. Peter Port harbour, run by Good Food Guernsey.

  • Le Viaer Marchi, Guernsey
    Monday 5th July 2010: Le Viaer Marchi, Saumarez Park
    Organised by the National Trust of Guernsey with traditional crafts, dancing, language, costume, food and drink and lots of fun. Le Viaer Marchi is a hugely popular event with both locals and visitors and takes place in the beautiful Saumarez Park.

  • National Hill Climb, Guernsey
    July 2010: National Hill Climb, Guernsey 2010
    The Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club (JM & LCC) have been organising Hill Climbs at Bouley Bay since 1947 and as this is a National hillclimb you can expect a number of UK entries to travel to the island looking to pick up championship points. An afternoon not to be missed and a must for all motor sport fans.

Sam Taylor Wood's handsome feature debut offers a new insight into the early life of John Lennon. In her eyes, the unexpectedly sparkling suburbs of post -war Liverpool come to rich life. Nowhere Boy is occasionally moving, always interesting and unique in presenting the history of the troubled adolescence of one of music's most influential artists. Also showing short films from the Jersey Branchage Film Festival and the Guernsey Lily Film Festival.

  • Sunday 11th July 2010: The Living Streets Tranquility Walk - Market Square, St Peter Port
    Walk across the island from the Town to the Imperial Hotel, on Guernsey's south west tip, mainly using Ruettes Tranquilles and lanes.

  • Tuesday 13th & Wednesday 14th July 2010: TOUR DES PORTS DE LA MANCHE Organised by Le Yacht Club de Granville this sailing race brings together around 100 boats and 700 yachtsmen across the Gulf of St Malo. Norman seamanship is tested over six days. St Peter Port buzzes when this big fleet hits town on the Tuesday with boats leaving on the Wednesday.

  • Saturday 17th July 2010 & Tuesday 27th July 2010: Burnt at the Stake (Guernsey History In Action Company) The story of three Guernsey women accused of heresy in 1556 recorded in Foxes Book of Martyrs. You are invited to join the townspeople of St Peter Port as they follow the unfortunate women being led to their fate. Please note this event is now cancelled.

  • Sunday 18th July 2010: Taste of Guernsey Sunday Seafront Closure - 11am-6pm

  • Thursday 29th July 2010: Royal Agriculture Show - Saumarez Park
    The Royal Agriculture Show with the Island's top cattle on show, as well as the Golden Goat Society showing the best Golden Guernsey's and horse competitions. Judging from 10am. Presentations at 3pm.

  • Friday 30th July 2010 - Sunday 8th August 2010: Sarnia Arts and Crafts Club Annual Exhibition Members of the local Sarnia Arts & Crafts Club will be displaying their skills at Elizabeth College at their annual summer exhibition. All of the exhibits are being shown for the first time and the vast majority of work is for sale. On display you'll find paintings in oil, watercolour and pastel, including many local Bailiwick scenes. Also locally produced pottery, sculpture, glass craft (including jewellery), and hand painted silks, and hand-spun and woven fabrics. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to vote for their favourite exhibit and raffle prizes include paintings and craft work donated by members. The Exhibition is open daily to the public from 10am to 6pm. Entry is free and there is ample parking in front of the College.

  • Rocquaine Regatta, Guernsey
    Saturday 31st July 2010: Rocquaine Regatta
    Held on Guernsey's beautiful southwest coast, the Rocquaine Regatta is a full day and evening of entertainment, activities and fun, on stage, on the beach and in the sea. With something suitable for all ages why not come along and join us. The event is free and there is also free entry to Fort Grey, Maritime Museum.



  • Saturday 31st July 2010 - Saturday 7th August 2010: Alderney Week
    Alderney's most popular annual event with great carnival atmosphere and entertainment to suit all ages – not to be missed. www.alderneyweek.net

  • Fri 6th August 2010 - Saturday 7th August 2010: Ivy Earth Fair - Live music festival with DJ's, food tent, children's area, chill out tent and bar. Two day ticket: £15, Friday only: £10 entry, under 14s free. Friday: 7pm to 11pm, Saturday: Noon to 11pm. All profits to charitable organisations.

  • 7th - 8th August 2010: Torteval Scarecrow Festival - This event is getting more and more popular every year and is a great event for all of the family. Wander through a beautiful area of the south west of Guernsey and spot your favourite scarecrow, which come in all shapes and sizes, anytime between 10am to 6pm on both days. www.torteval-scarecrows.org

  • 13th - 14th August 2010: The South Show - St Martin's Community Centre
    A traditional show with exhibits including vegetables, flowers, homemade produce, and entries from anyone living in St Martin's, Forest, St Andrew's and St Peter Port parishes. There are classes for adults and children. www.thesouthshow.com

  • 18th - 19th August 2010: The West Show - Held annually since 1913, The West Show is Guernsey's premier agricultural and horticultural show and is a traditional country show with many modern aspects and a varied mix of entertainment.

  • Saturday 21st August 2010: 'The Big Lunch' Street Party - 2pm-6pm, Mansell Street, St Peter Port
    Communal celebration on the streets of St Peter Port. Stalls selling food, antiques, crafts and odd items will fill the area. Sit down to lunch with your fellow party goers. Also a free drop-in creative workshops for children in The Gallery.

  • Saturday 21st August: Lions Club of Guernsey Donkey Derby - Saumarez Park With a variety of stalls including a food and a beer tent. The event opens at 12.30pm with racing starting at 1.30pm.

  • Sunday 22nd August: Summer Festival - Castle Cornet
    10am-5pm, normal castle admission charges apply Historical fun, hands-on activities, demonstrations, music and costumed characters. Great family fun!

  • Wednesday 25th - Thursday 26th August 2010: Guernsey North Show and Battle of Flowers
    Lots of family entertainment, including all of the traditional agricultural, horticultural and craft categories. The climax of the event is the "Battle of Flowers", a classic island event, where locals compete to win the prestigious "Prix D’Honneur" award for the best mobile floral float.

  • Thursday 26th August 2010 - Monday 30th August 2010: Guernsey Open Bass Festival 2010
    Guernsey's longest running and most prestigious annual shore and boat sport fishing competition for all ages. £5,000 guaranteed prize fund, including prizes for best visiting angler, best female and best junior. Also a £5,000 bonus prize on offer if the current Guernsey shore record is broken. www.gbass.co.uk

  • Friday 27th August 2010: Harbour Carnival 2010
    St Peter Port Harbour is where the action happens to the annual carnival. Family fun which includes traditional Ladies Dinghy Racing, Tug of War and Raft Race followed by the heroic but predictably disastrous Manpowered Flight. This year’s there is a RBC Wealth Management prize giving ceremony with the carnival finishing with a triumphant Firework display. There is also music and refreshments to add to the atmosphere.   • Saturday 28th August 2010 - Monday 30th August 2010: French Market - Albert Pier, St Peter Port

  • Sunday 29th August 2010: Sportingbet Guernsey Maraton
    The Guernsey Marathon returns. The course will take runners south to Torteval before following the west coast back to the start and finish point at the Footes Lane athletics track.   • Sunday 29th August 2010: Vale Earth Fair - Vale Castle
    A major annual outdoor music and arts event with various concerts on 5 stages from live from local, national and international acts at Vale Castle. The music lasts from midday to midnight, and there is also a real ale bar and food stalls, plus craft stalls and a children's area.
    Please note this event is now cancelled.

  • Sunday 29th August 2010: Taste of Guernsey Sunday Seafront Closure - 11am-6pm, free entry
    The last of a series of Sunday seafront closures over the summer months, featuring cooking demonstrations, displays and food tastings. There will also be opportunity to participate in workshops, purchase local produce or to just simply enjoy the musical entertainment on offer.

  • Saturday 4th September 2010: Alderney Half Marathon - The popular road race on Alderney is a 20k half marathon as well as a 10k fun run. Goody bag (including running vest, drink bottle, banana, medal, cup and shopping bag) for all finishers of the half marathon and 10k races, prizes for winners and a free sandwich lunch afterwards. From 12:00pm Saturday 4th September 2010.

  • Battle of Britain Air Display, Guernsey
    Thursday 9th September 2010: Battle of Britain Air Display
    This hugely popular free annual event this year celebrates its 70th anniversary, and is a 2 hour air display featuring WW2 aircraft, modern training aircraft and RAF fast jets and helicopters. For the finale the RAF's Red Arrows will show off their skilful synchronised formation flying.

  • Friday 10th - Sunday 12th September 2010: International Air Rally - Held at the Guernsey Aero Club, this Air Rally which is now in its 38th year, features aircrafts from all over Europe and is an aviation extravaganza not to be missed. Meeting at the Guernsey Aero Club, this outstanding island event offers plenty of aircraft, atmosphere and fun.

  • Saturday 11th September 2010: 2010 Proms on the Pier - Albert Pier, St. Peter Port
    Guernsey's very own version of "Last Night of the Proms", the 2010 Proms on the Pier will see islanders and visitors congregate on Albert Pier to firstly listen to local live musical entertainment and then join in with the live ceremony from the Royal Albert Hall in London, broadcast on a giant screen. Admission is free and complimentary Union Jack flags and bowler hats are provided.

  • Saturday 18th September 2010 - Friday 31st December 2010: 'A WORLD FULL OF DREAMS': A PORTRAIT OF HAUTEVILLE HOUSE - Guernsey Museum
    An exhibition of local artist Mark Cook’s stunning paintings which lead the viewer through Hauteville House, the exile home of Victor Hugo, meeting the people who work there.

  • Monday 20th September 2010 - Sunday 25th September 2010: The 5th International Victor Hugo Music Festival
    Taking its name from Guernsey's best known resident of all time, this festival includes such international musicians as tenor John Mark Ainsley, the award winning Ebene String Quartet, violinist Chloe Hanslip, The Hermitage String Trio, Nadja Zwiener baroque violin and the Southbank Sinfonia among others. At the heart of the festival will be the premiere performance of songs based on Hugo's poetry commissioned from French composer Thierry Escaich and given by John Mark Ainsley and Roger Vignoles.

  • 9th October 2010 - 23rd October 2010: Nerine Festival - Candie Gardens, St Peter Port
    The Nerine Festival features hundreds of varieties of Nerines or "Guernsey Lilies" as they are popularly known, in a wide range of colours, with the bulbs coming from the collection held by the Guernsey branch of the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens.

  • Friday 15th - Sunday 17th October 2010: Guernsey Lily International Non-Commercial Film Festival
    A well established annual film Festival that draws attention from as far afield as the USA and across Europe. Awards range from commendations to trophies and cash prizes, with written comments from the judges on every entry. guernseylily.com

  • Sunday 17th - Saturday 23rd October 2010: International Chess Festival - Attracting some of the very best chess players from all over Europe. Primarily for amateur players, it is a seven round, FIDE rated Swiss competition with cash prizes and is held at the Peninsula Hotel.

    Ice Skating at Market Square with a number of opportunities to win free skating tickets as well as a pair of ice skates signed by Dancing on Ice star and ex-England rugby player Kyran Bracken.   • Saturday 11th & Wednesday 22 December 2010: Christmas Mini Mosaics - Two Part Workshop - 10.30am to 12.30pm
    A two part workshop so that you can see the mosaicing process from beginning to end. In the first class you will create your mini mosaic masterpiece - it might be ideal as a Christmas present! It will then be left to dry and you will come back the following week to learn grouting. It's messy and fun. Ages: 6 to 12 year olds. Cost: £30.
