My daughter and I chose the Hougue du Pommier for a short break earlier this year. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend this hotel to anyone else. Our twin room overlooking the grounds was delightful, and all other facilities eg bar, breakfast room, swimming pool, well up to standard. The swimming pool was warm, and we particularly enjoyed the cream tea served in the garden.

A quiet 3 Star country house hotel ideally situated in rural Castel, Hotel Hougue
du Pommier is an original Guernsey Farmhouse dating from 1712. Set within 8 acres
of beautiful gardens and private land and with a reputation for fine cuisine, service
and comfort as well as great value, it is no surprise that the Hotel Hougue du Pommier
has become one of the best country house hotels in the Channel Islands. The west
coast beaches are just a 10 minute walk and it is a 10 minute car journey to St.
Peter Port, Guernsey's Capital.
Rooms
At the Hougue du Pommier there are a variety of excellently furnished rooms including
Standard Double, Deluxe 4 Poster rooms, Deluxe rooms, Medieval Deluxe rooms, Superior
Sundeck Patio rooms and Standard Twin.
There are 43 rooms in total, all of which are non-smoking, en-suite and nearly all
have had a major upgrade and refurbishment since 2004. Most bedrooms and suites
include the following facilities: king size beds, complimentary tray, remote control
television and direct dial telephone with modem link.
Standard Rooms are furnished to a high standard with cherry wood furniture and are
light and airy. They comprise of either twin beds or a double bed, with either a
shower only or a bath and shower. Facilities include: Television, tea and coffee
making facilities and a hairdryer. Family Rooms have an additional sofa bed suitable
for two children up to 10 years old, and Interconnecting rooms are available.
Deluxe rooms are much larger and are furnished to a high standard. Most of the bathrooms
have his' n hers wash hand basins, bath with shower over and most have bidets. All
rooms have trouser press, mini-bar, sofa and hairdryers. Two of the deluxe rooms
have four poster beds for the ultimate in luxury.
The hotel also offers two superior deluxe rooms with large patios/sundecks overlooking
the beautiful gardens. The Medieval Deluxe Room is the flagship bedroom, uniquely
furnished for that something different. Bathrobes are provided in all Deluxe rooms.
Restaurant
The restaurant offers a seasonal menu of award winning excellence created by the
Head Chef and his talented team of International chefs. With a variety of cuisine
like the delicious local seafood, much of the ingredients are hand chosen at the
famous markets of Brittany in France, and only the finest produce used. The restaurant
also maintains many original Guernsey features.
The famous pub the Tudor Bar is cosy and welcoming and has been listed in the Good
Pub Guide since 1992. It offers a varied menu of traditional and exotic dishes such
as lamb with fresh garden herbs, fresh Guernsey Seafood and succulent steaks cooked
on the only Feu Du Bois in the Channel Islands. When the weather is fine take afternoon
tea or lunch in the Tea Garden.
Swimming Pool
At Hotel Hougue du Pommier there is a sheltered outdoor heated swimming pool.
Spa
A sauna is also located within the hotel grounds.
Weddings
The Hotel Hougue du Pommier specialises in catering for wedding receptions and other
functions in beautiful surroundings. Every minor detail is taken into account to
ensure the complete success of every event, be it a small buffet or a large banquet.
From formal functions in the comfortable marquee overlooking the grounds, to BBQ's
around the Pool, or an intimate luncheon party in the wonderful restaurant, most
requests can be catered for. Menus are available to suite most tastes and budgets,
and the hotel should be contacted to arrange a personal viewing.
